Queer country/folk singer-songwriter

Location: Brooklyn, NY

(WHY-lee GAY-bee) / (he, him)

Wiley Gaby (formerly Goldenchild) is a Brooklyn-based Americana singer-songwriter whose tear-stained vocals and unflinching songs reimagine classic country through a queer lens. Raised in the woods of Wakulla County, Florida, he writes from a life lived between church pews and Brooklyn dive bars, small-town shame and hard-won pride. Partnering with Mississippi's Dial Back Sound (helmed by Matt Patton of Drive-By Truckers, Dexateens), Wiley releases his debut single "IDGAF No More" on February 13, followed by a coast-to-coast US tour and a full album later in the year. For fans of Jason Isbell, Dolly Parton, and Tracy Chapman.

“Wiley Gaby is one of the best singers in country music – hands down. Gaby's choir boy tenor hits back on toxic masculinity with this country anthem that belongs in the upper echelon of songs that make you want to lift both fingers high in the air.” — Rachel Cholst, Rainbow Rodeo **

“Wiley Gaby is one of the best singers in country music – hands down. Gaby, whom you may remember as Goldenchild, is preparing his self-titled album, and "IDGAF No More" hints at what's to come. Gaby's choir boy tenor hits back on toxic masculinity with this country anthem that belongs in the upper echelon of songs that make you want to lift both fingers high in the air.”—Rachel Cholst, Rainbow Rodeo

Wiley Gaby is a queer country/folk singer-songwriter based in Brooklyn, NY. Raised in a small town in northern Florida, he blends classic country influences and rural roots with the collisions and stumbles of life in “the big city.” His heartfelt writing and emotional tenor voice bring balladeer vulnerability and melodrama to his music—what NPR Music calls “swelling into high notes and emoting with sly finesse.”

Gaby first came to notice with Bridges (2015), recorded as Goldenchild with collaborator Jeff Doker, hailed by Adobe & Teardrops as “a case study in combining country with pop music and coming out with something that is heartfelt and mature. In other words, real country music.” The Boot highlighted Gaby and Goldenchild among “10 Queer Country Artists Country Music Fans Should Know.”

Now stepping out fully under his own name, Gaby is preparing to release his solo debut on Mississippi’s Dial Back Sound, in partnership with Robert “Bobby Matt” Patton (Drive-By Truckers, Dexateens). The first single drops in February, to be followed by an LP and vinyl release later in 2026.

Wiley can frequently be found on the road, touring the US with the likes of Teresa Jiménez, Paisley Fields, Acacia Forgot (Rupaul’s Drag Race), The Great Dying, Australian duo Great Aunt, and others.
